The International Fire Code (IFC), 2024 Edition has been adopted by Southern Valley Fire & Rescue as rules for the fire prevention of the district.
“Residential Building” for the purposes of childcare fire safety inspections is defined as a maximum of 30 children in a building designed for
residential purposes (i.e. house, apartment, etc.). Buildings licensed for more than 30 children are considered “commercial buildings”
regardless of the design purpose of the structure.
